Skylands for a meeting.

I am in our room across from the conference Center. Rick is at a Trust meeting, one of his new endeavors. This morning I sat in the lodge on a sofa close to where they sell coffee. I ate an apple and an avocado for lunch. I Amin bed and plan to take a nap.I was having trouble with the iPad but now it is responding as I want.

Outside the trees are gently moving back and forth.

No leaves but tiny buds.

The mountains in the background are faint.

I opened the door and the wind blew it closed.

I did not want to sit in the cafeteria.

SoI was glad Rick texted me to tell me the room was ready.

I used a bath cloth as a plate.

Garden Week Alone

I invited Cathy B, Hallie and my neighbor Louise Fallen but ended up going alone and I am glad I did. There was lots of walking and I could stay as long as I wanted.

I started with eating a melting cheese sandwich at the Bonduran environmental Center. I bought it from a food truck. I do not remember the name of the truck but it was painted bright yellow and most of the items on the truck  were cheese sandwiches.  I sat alone on a lawn chair. It was too much food and So I took it with me. I did not want to miss the first talk which began at 1pm. There was parking at the Tillman house. I went to the waiting station where the talk was to begin. I decided I should have my hat on so I went back to the car and got my hat. I almost missed the ladies so I rushed up and caught them. ms. Tillman began to talk.  She told us she was going to tell us all about Bondoran Farm and she did. Fred Scott designed it so everyone who bought there was an environmentalist. I ask a question about bluebirds and the bluebird  house that was across the road. She suggested we get closer so we walked across the road and then we all  looked in and there were about five eggs in the nest. She had played an iron tube around the bottom so the snakes could not get in. She also talked about the stream and told it how I:portmanteau it was to have green shrubs along the stream so there is not a lot of runoff. The other woman talked a bit but not much. I later met Ms.Tillman sitting in front of her house which was the first house we toured after riding a shuttle to the top of the hill. There were lots of creations around the house

and I was in time to watch the last speaker talk about filling flower pots with plants you could hang up. Thriller filler and spiller. These. Are the words you have to remember.

Next was Boudoran Farm and house. I had to walk a long road to the top. I was glad I was alone since I had was very slow.

A special night at Monticello

We had dinner in Monticello’s dinning room.

I ate in between two exceptional people. A man who is an architect Tom Wolf and on the other side a man who was the head of the foundation who raises money. I need to ask Rick their names. They plant five thousand bulbs each year. When we got there we walked through the gardens. I took pictures and people took pictures of us. One was Leslie’s daughter. Leslie will retire at the end of the mont. today is Founder’s day and they are celebrating 🥳 there right now. I am going to turn on the TV. I already wrote in my SToryworth. I listened to the talk by Natalie yesterday. She again told us to put it on your calendar.

Right now Jim McWilliams is taking out the English boxwood bushes which have all died. The yard is filled with azalea’s and dogwood.

The pictures are from our trip to Cape Charles over the weekend.

Relaxing on the Eastern shore

We are with Walker’s family in a house they rented. We ate two meals together so far. Rick cooked eggs for breakfast. Hallie and I cleaned  up. The dishwasher is running. Rick is playing Kings in the Corner with Bess and she is wining which I find astounding. Bess just lost. There is a large blue board on the wall and he is writing down the scores. Walker , Joseph and Hallie are sitting on the sofas. Bess is still in her pajamas. The best part of this house is the floor. It is grey wood. We are right beside thee kitchen.

I did not sleep last night. We left Cvill early. When we got close to Hampton Rick suggested we go to see the ship yard ad navy yard on a tour boat. He bought the tickets by phone. The tour started at two. We parked the car in a close,by garage and walked to thee tour boat. We bought hot dog on the ship and found a seat and watched the amazing scenery of ships and building go by.

I just changed chairs so I could look att both scenes.

It is late at night. We all just watched Hoosiers. Joseph sat beside me. He was reading a book as we watched. He does not play basketball.  Maybe jealous. Tried to ignore the story. We walked to the beach. Perfect for children. We could see thee ships in the distance. Rick and Hallie talked about the Miller Center.
