Met Louie yesterday

Louie was named Merriwether Lewis by the pet breeder. He had a brother named Clark. But Bess chose Louie who was more playful. We took him outside several times yesterday day but had trouble getting  him to walk very far. Bess was teaching  him she was the boss.

We also watched Descendants. This episode had more of a story than the first one. It was a real high school story. It should be a play.

This morning on the news I learned Phil Donahue had died. When we moved to Kingston Road I watched him. Every day. I was one of millions of woman who were fascinated with him. Probably because he asked them questions and gave them a voice separate from their husbands. This is the first time in my life I watched a lot of TV. Even though it was invented when I was a child.

Today I am going to meet Eliza at Mud house then we will go for a walk at Mint Springs. I need to go upstairs and get dressed. I want to bring cookies. I have a tablecloth and napkins ready. Rick is going to bring the food.

This whole plan collapsed. Catherine showed up with Eliza at the Mud House. We did go for a walk at Mont Speings but Eliza did not want to have lunch with Rick. I took her back to the Library and she walked hom, down the Main Street of Crozet. I waited for Rick.Rick drove home and ate at home.

I am writing this later. I forget some of it.

Violin concerts

Our grandsons are both at Violin camps this week. Friday night we watched Tucker preform over the internet and Sunday we went to,Walker’s house and watched Joseph preform on the big screen.

We really watched all the students in small groups. It is a camp for different instruments. I do not know how it is organized but Hallie does. She and Walker revolve their personal life around violin lessons. They have excellent results. It makes me want to pursue an instrument.

I can play some piano but have decided I can only play the melody and the trouble cleff. . I want to learn the base clef. Today I go to Walker’s to watch Bess I. Ed to learn the names of both camps.

We are home

Yesterday we took the train from Boston. We left the boat at 7:30. They served us breakfast which we ate at our favorite table in the back.  A driver picked us up and took us to the train station in the center of Boston. We learned you could pay a red cap to help you with your bags. We had him put our bags on his cart and drive us to the train which we boarded.we repeated this in Washington. This driver also had another young passenger which he took to a bus. We drove through the basement of the train station. We learned the young man loved his job.

He had worked for Target. The first train was an express that travels at a high speed and does not make many spots. There is a lot of water around Boston. We sat at a table with two other passengers beside us.

We shared a Turkey sandwich and drank water and ate chips.

On the second train I read Balducci. The title has Anguish in it.

The anguish of souls.it is about the late sixties right after the civil rights bill was passed.

I just get a call from our daughter Catherine Bradley. The first part she was normal the second part she became very angr and complained about me going into her house and causing her to smell smells and cause trama a  in her life.

She did mention she was going to see a councilor. The counselor is going to call her and me.

As usual I do not know how to handle this.

We are in Martha’s Vineyard

I am sitting on our poach with a slight breeze and the sunshineing on my face. It is more  than a slight breeze, but it is not a gale.  I see lots of large boats.  there is a beach close by but no one swimming.

this morning we got in a black van with other cruise people and heard stories about the island,  first settled by Indian. The Englishmen brought their boats here in 1628. I am not sure of the exact date. Rick is sound a sleep in our bed. We a

Came back to the ship for lunch.  I ate cod and still feel full.

This is a vacation land especially for blacks. They have been excluded in Many places in America until the Civil Rights movement but they were accepted here.

We went to Edgartown, the largest town which was very upscale. I went into the shops and bought a book for Cole to take to California, a ghost story. We learned all about the whaling industry. Whales were important because of whale oil. When Oil was discovered in Titusville Pa. Whale oil was not important. The oil in Pa. was drilled from the ground.

The captains who owned the ships that were sent all over the world were wealthy. They built  massive houses close to the water. We learned they were gone for three or four years and their wives ran the businesses and took care of the enormous homes.

Bess will come soon

I ate banana and granola for breakfast. My car is on my mind but I do not want to say anything to Rick. Later, I forget writing this. We thought we would have to buy a new. Ar but learned an animal had chewed my gas Lin which caused the car to stink. We had the car towed and even went looking for a new car last Sunday after church. In the end we had the car repaired and now I can drive it again. I am not sure I took Methotrxate last  Monday.

Bess came on Monday. We did origami but later went for a swim at BHSC.

Yesterday we met Jim Wicksat Septenary and talked about the Susquehanna River.

Saturday morning after seein It Ends with Us

I am still trying to figure out the movie which was a love story but did not make sense to me. I just read about the star Blake but I do not want to write about her but about me and my life.

After the movie we went to eat  dinner at Sal’s on the downtown mall and watched people walk by because we sat at the long table in the front that faces the mall. We saw several people we know and spoke to two, our representative and our former neighbor, Catherine Worton.

While Rick was paying I went into the used book store and looked around and was impressed. I decided I am going to given Bess a gift certificate for her birthday.

We watched a girl play her violin and then walked over to Christ Church garage and listened to more music but this was Appalachian music, the other was classical. We walked to Queen Charlotte , got in our car and came home. I was very tired but could not sleep. I got up took two of Rick’s sleeping pills later too a hot bath wit Dr. Teal’s Epson salt and then finally fell asleep.

Rick did not want me to go and do errands with him after he exercises. I need to pick up estrogen from Timberlakes. I also need to take my Jewlery to have restrung by my friend at the Farmer’s market.

Big Storm last night

News reports were dire and everyone was ready. Best part of all the water is the lake is full and water is spilling over the newly constructed dam. Pictures of the dam and our newly constructed dock have already been sent to Keith Barber the engineer who was n charge of all the construction.

Both he and Ricks were already checking things out when I woke up. I woke up about 7 when light was coming through the window. Rick was already up. When I came down stairs the front door was open. I got a clearer view out the  down family room window.Rick and ate ver were by the dam looking at it and discussing the event. We are home from an exhausting day. I should have never driven my Jeep to Finley’s. It smelled like gasoline. I got there but the. Eliza and I decided to call Rick.we went for a walk by the lake and sat on a picnic table and talked about Hamlet. When we got back to the house Rick came. The car would not start so we called AA. It took Al afternoon but finally the attendant came with a huge carrier and took the car to Finley’s

While we waited we ate lunch and played cards and took care of Ford the family feline who is now about four month’s old. Rick was very patient and helped Eliza. David took the lead and did all the shuffling and dealing.

We are sailing in to Boothbay

Yesterday we were in Portland again. We were bussed to Dave’s photo safari. We rode in a brand new boat looking for wildlife. We almost immediately found  two bald eagles in the shoreline trees. I  took a photo of one. Next we found courmorants and seals. Dave was a congenial fellow full of information about wild life he wanted to share.

He had a beautiful boat that was almost brand new. There were only five people in the boat. Rick and I sat in the back but the engine was noisy even though the views were beautiful. I eventually sat up front and spread my legs on the cushions and relaxed. Dave identified different wild life and I took pictures.

I am sitting in bed. I can see the shore line. There are lots of big houses. We are slowing down so I am going to step outside on our poach and take a picture.
