Tucker comes tomorrow

I am very excited. I have been working on making sure the house is clean and there is plenty for the  kids to do. I must get the toys ready after I write. Rick just left to pick up Hallie and family to take them to the airport. They will fly to Memphis to see her parents.

Yesterday we went to church and heard about Abraham Lincoln and what he said about Thanksgiving. Then we went to Giant and then to Starbucks and then Came home.

In the afternoon we went to the violin concert and all of the Holkham Richmond’s played. The concert was a joint concert of everyone the teacher teaches. She uses the Sazuki  Method. The oldest students play first then they move to the youngest. Each plays individually and then younger students are added to the group. Hallie also got to play. She never played with this group before. At one point she and Joseph stood beside each other.

I feel very inspired.

I read about the different string instruments so I know more.

Today

Today is Thursday November 21

I am going to go shopping. I already ate a healthy breakfast. I just talked to Catherine. She always feels agitate. I told her about Lewis and Clark picture book with pictures from Sam Abel our neighbor in Crozet. He lives close to the monastery. We gave the 250 dollars when we bought some cheese.🧀

I read Eric Frommer’s  obituary. He wrote 5 Dollars a da in Europe. Later he travels the whole world.I like to add pictures but am not sure now. Last night I showed pictures to Rick,

Spent yesterday with Walker and Joseph

Yesterday I drove to  with Walker and Joseph to Warrington to Watch Joseph play in two soccer games. We left at 7:40. Walker picked me up. I sat in the front seat and had lots of time to spend talking to Walker. We talked about our new president and how our country will change because the Republicans won.

This morning Rick and I went to Christ Church. There were four Baptisms. The church was packed with people. Many people had to sit in the balcony. After church we went to Giant t buy medicine for my cold sore. I put some on my bottom l. It feels better.

For lunch I ate my leftover fish. Yesterday we went to a restaurant named Glory days. Walker said it was very popular in northern Virginia. I ordered the fish, Walker ordered a salad with  Salmon on the top. Joseph ordered a BLT. Right now football is on the TV. The Commanders are playing. Off, we go from Landover. Washington is playing the Cowboys. This is a famous competition. I just wrapped my brothers Christmas gift in a USPO box. It is a shirt I bought at Costco.we are going to go to a violin concert at 2pm.

I talked to Walker. He was in his car coming home from church. We drove directly to Walker’s house last night and ate pizza that we picked up at BJ’s

The weather is warmer today. I took my coat to church but did not wear it.

If you watch sports something always exciting is happening. I am trying to organize all ,y Christmas gifts. That is why I wrapped my brother’s gift. Tomorrow I am going to organize the California gifts.

Today is Vetrans Day

I was sick this morning.it started out with a cold at church. I am not sure but I could hardly get out of bed. I feel better now but am still coughing. When I get flustered I start to knit. I must take Eliza to school Wednesday and then go to the doctor’s. I have to write down my problems.

I called my brother because it is his birthday. He has adjusted well to Ecumenical House. I told him about the long sleeve tee shirt I sent him. The writing was Cresson Bed and Breakfast which I thought he would like. I sent him candy.

Sick All week

I have been coughing all week. I went to see Dr. Volkama on Wednesday. He gave me two medicines.

I have two pills left in one jar. This is an antibiotic.

My daughter just came for a visit. She left screaming. She voted for Trump so is happy about that. She is sour on Real Estate. I am not sure how to help her.  I have been downstairs reading most of the day. There is much news because Trump won the election and has plans to change the country beginning with relocating all the undocumented foreigners in the country.he also wants to eliminate the Education Department.the newspaper just used the word hews. I need to look up that word.

I am going to sit in the jacuzzi and then put on my pajamas.

We leave today

I had a restless night. I am sitting in bed. I already packed my suitcase. Rick went to the office to pay the bill. I think I will take a shower. I want to go to warm spring and go to the famous pools but Rick does not want to go. I want to take a picture. I like the color of the room.

I am writing this later. I think we are at Lewis Mountain Lodge. The Homestead is close by.

I just watched Kamala giver her farewell speech.

My sisters were upset about Kamala loosing. I think many women in America were. I finished. Knitted hat this morning and now am working on a scarf. The room is dark. I must send Virginia  Evans a letter reminding her to send a contract to bill Snow for CVWG.

leave Clarkston today

I had trouble sleeping. Rick gave me some of his sleeping pills. I turned on Calm in the bathroom

It is morning . We have to have our bags out by .

I am watching local news. A special Barbie doll was put out for Festival. Now lawyers advertising, just like home.

We had lunch at a crowded Denny’s after looking at  museum for Walla Walla and old village. The weather is low eighties.

Everything is Pumpkin latte and pumpkin  offer.  The mountains loom above the river.

Back from breakfast. We go to a show at 10:30 in conference center. Then, we get on the boat.  Rick thinks we have same room as last time.

I do not think I would like living in Washington state. I am looking at barren mountains. Maybe I should paint them.

Donold Tru p was elected president

I worked at the polls yesterday handing out instructions on how to vote democrat. I made some new friends while there. I mailed packages to my brother and my son at the Crozet post office.

I came home and watched TV the rest of the day and evening hoping that Kamala Harris would win but disappointed in Americans for failing to pick a woman to lead them.

I am still knitting and crocheting hats, mostly for Eliza’s school fair. Today and in the future I am going to write in Storyworth more.

grandkids spent the night Walker had a teacher Work Day
I have the TV on.i just watched Kamala Harris give her farewell speech. We accept the election results The announcers are now at West Palm Bee h. Probably close to Trumps home. It is a castle like hotel. Musk made 12 Billion on the stock market today

Fort Lewis Lodge

We are staying at the Charles Lewis Cabin, a lovely single room with high ceilings, a fireplace, a small sofa and relaxing looking leather chairs. Lots of pillows on the bed and sofa. I have been knitting a hat since we left Cville. Rick is outside on the poach reading. I continue up to read Undaunted Courage. I am trying to understand the voyage West.. the chapter I just finished was about the Sioux Indians. It is confrontational. But shots are not fired. I do not know the difference between a keel boat and a perriouge. The perriouge  seems more like a canoe but it has a flat bottom. Both boats use sails sometimes. We have eaten two meals so far. Rick thinks Carol is cooking more vegetables than in her previous meals. There was no meat at breakfast. Last night we had a small chicken theigh.

We went to see the newest purchase of the Crowl family. Beaver Falls  house. We ate lunch on the

Poach. . The cleaning lady let us look at the house. It is on the Calf pasture river. Rick has spent a long time swatting flies which seem to have infested the cabin and poach.

Today we are just Cruising.

We had a talk this morning about the Oregon Trail. The economy was in bad shape in the East. The Conestoga Wagon was like a modern day camper. Either mules, oxen or horses drove it. But, we learned most of the time the women walked beside the wagon to listen the load. They used buffalo dung for fuel because because it burned slow and it did not smell bad.

I am sitting in our room. The weather is perfect. Beside us are high desert mountains. We can see cars on a highway. We also see long trains. Sometimes we see windmills. We have seen small fishing boats too. It is all very peaceful. Rick has been organizing our next cruise. I wrote two postcards.  I try to read Undaunted Courage whenever I can fit it in.

Today in the Underground

We rode the bus for 2 hours. We sat in the back seat. I spent money in the gift shop. I buy gifts for my grandkids, mostly. I have not looked at gifts yet. We are parked by a lovely park , people are walking or skateboarding, not many. On the bus ride back we saw a movie about the Manhattan Project. Building the atomic Bomb. I want to learn more. I will read on the internet. I sent a text with pictures to family. Tomorrow I will write post cards.

Portal d Oregon

We had a marvelous visit to Mill Valley to visit our son, daughter in law and Gus a Cole. We picked than up at the school and said goodbye at school Monday morning. We got to see the boys play soccer and Cole also play two games of Basket ball. We ate at inand out and also dinner at the Lumber Yard on the Main Street of Mill valley. The visit was perfect since we had a lot of time to just visit and talk and learn about their life in ill Valley. Liz has opened up her office Sausalito, the next town which is a boat city and a tourist town. We had lunch there. Her office is very small, a box car but she has some clients. Cole can ride his bike to school and home. Gus has made friends and bought a skate board with he money he makes from selling greeting cards. I bought six from him.

Right now I am in the lobby of the Embacy Suites hotel in Downtown, Portland. Rick went out to pick up our rental car. The hotel lobby is very elaborate. There are many marble pillars which read to an elaborate ceiling.

The Banquit at the Jefferson Hotel

Thursday night the Law Foundation celebrated fifty years of existence. The word fifty was everywhere. It was on the napkins, on the candy and water they gave us as a souvenir.  It was on the wall across the stage.

We started the evening in a room where we had drinks and o’dorves  n one room then  went to a fancy extra large dinning room where we had dinner and heard talks by celebrities and had special entertainment by Yo Yo Ma, a cellist with world a renowned  Reputation.

Sabato’ crystal Ball

I am at Alumni Hall in the auditorium. I am in the front row. I just ate two pieces of cake and fruit and still have coffee.  I am glad I am here since I will hear funny commentary and learn more about the race for the presidency. Maybe I will take a picture of Larry. When I came I sat in the car awhile and then while I wa waiting about ten cars pulled up behind me. I am sitting next to a man I used to read with at Christ Church.

I showed him Lizzie’s web page for her business. I came home and took a nap. Catherine and Eliza brought me a huge bag of apples. We got to talk. I asked Eliza about school. She said the teacher asked the kids what they wanted to learn about and most of the kids answered. WAR. She told us a quote about Albert Einstein. He said if we have a third WW and used atomic weapons the fourth WW would be fought with sticks and stones.

Installing cook Top Thursday morning.

The men from the shop downtown are installing the cook top.  I thought they were going to come next Thursday. Cooking these past few days have been confusing. We have used the micro wave a lot.. this morning I made an egg bite.
They took out the old cook top and hood and are now putting in the new one. One of the workers. Is deaf. The business is Davis appliance.
After they finish we are going to go to CVS down town and get out Covid shot and a flue shot.

They know what they are doing. They keep talking to each other. They do a lot of talking. Now they are talking about the vent. I am sitting on the sofa watching. Rick went up stairs.
Where is the hardware. The hard ware is the screws. I am being quiet because I cannot fallow what they are doing. The stove top and vent are probably twenty years old. We had the new kitchen installed in 2000.
We vacuumed everywhere. There was dirt and also stink bugs. We also used the part of the vacuum that gets into corners. One of the workers talked about being hungry.  I did not talk I only listened which I am learning about on my Nadia tape. My daughter called me earlier and we talked about life and the election.this is much more complicated then I thought. This is a perfect time to be practicing my writing skills.I am not sure how writers put in so many details. Now, they are talking about screws and where to put them. They are a team “I got to use this”

I just sent pictures.

When we got home I took the extra food to Walker’s house:  -quiche, fruit and chips. We both unpacked. I took a nap and Rick went to the BHSC. I am still a bit tired. 🥱 I took the sheets off the bed and put them in the washing machine. My body hurts but I am not exactly sure how to describe it. I go to see Dr. Miendershtom on Tuesday. Maybe I should take more Methotrexate. I just sent pictures to the other people who went to Fort Lewis Lodge.

We are At Fort Lewis

We are staying at the Bend House. Rick is in the common rooms with friends from Rotary. I hear them talking in very hushed tones. I am sitting on a long sofa right in front of the trundle bed. It is an old fashioned bed with lovely quilt covers to keep us warm. I slept okey. When I don’t fall asleep I do my breath work. I already took a shower and did my toilet so I am comfortable with my pajamas on. It is a bit chilly. I am not sure how to dress today. I have plenty of clothes. Right now I plan to put on shorts.

Last night we had dinner together at the Lodge. We drove in our car with the Stones. We walked down to the river together. Some members of our troop had trouble walking back. I did okey. I stayed with the Archers. We went into Buck’s Bar. We ordered wine. Paul paid for it. Some people ordered beer. I did not pay attention to what people drank. I ask Paul about Isreal. The Archer’s went there a year ago. We compared notes since Rick and I went there about five years ago.

Everyday we see news about Isreal on the television and read about it in the newspaper. It is a never ending story. There does not to be an answer since no one likes the Jews. They have never liked them since the time of Jesus.

I always like the pictures at Fort Lewis. Chee has come over here and painted and I would like to see if they hang one of her pictures.

We are home from Saturday

Thursday. I am sitting in bed. It is perfect weather. I am tired. We went to the baths at Warm springs, we had lunch in the town of Hot springs. We went and did a tour on our own of the hotel at Hot Springs. We drove home. I gave Paul and Allison the gift I bought them, a plate with a recipe for Whisky soup. I want to send some pictures.

I recorded this later. I am trying to read over my former blogs.

I go to see Dr. Meindershsturm

I am still working on David Balduchi.  I have been reading in bed. I want to finish the book today. I am also reading  the psalms and a book I took from church about the Christian religion. I am still upset about the call from B yesterday and her tantrum.Rick said he would talk to her. I need to look at therapy sight.

I just finished the book.

“Calamity of Souls” the daughter killed her father with a Civil War sword.  He had been abusive to her mother for years. Gordon, the father  killed the mother and came after Christine and she killed him. The black Gardner was saved and the trial ends but he is later shot by a young teenage boy. Jack Lee is also shot but he lives.

The Gordon’s give Pearl a house and educate her and her children. The same boy also shoots Jack but. He lives after spending a long time in rehabilitation.

Later he goes to Chicago and sets up a law practice with Desiree Dubose, the black woman who helps his solve the first murder  case against Jerome and Pearl.

Yulma is here with her crew of five woman. No one speaks English except Yulma. I put the money in an envelope with her name on the front.  She also helps Walker and Hallie.Hallie has my car today.

I am sitting on the deck looking at the lake. I hear the vacuum running.

Rick had lunch with Catherine Bradley, she called the other day. She

quit working with Frank Hardy’s

Now, it is much later. The cleaners are all gone and Rick is at the gym doing his byclcleing

. If I write I slow down my life and know I cannot possible finish everything. I took a nap. Befor they left I had the worker vacuum this room. We had the crew help to clean out the closet. Rick said he is going to paint it.

Before the crew arrived I cleaned off the bed in B’s room. I buy Christmas gifts and then store them.

This Saturday I am going to go to Allu ni Hall and watch Larry Sabato and his Christal Ball. I think it will  be entertaining after the Debate last night.

Tomorrow or the next day I will take a load to Good Will.

A other Big rain storm

The UVA football game was delayed two hours. We were going to watch it but never did. We just went to bed. Tucker called from California and said he was watching it but the station turned it off. It was on National TV but not on local TV. Today we woke up and went to church. The lesson I was from the sermon about taking responsibility for your self.

Today I went to the Democratic headquarters and made phone calls for Kamala Harris. I still have a list of them on my phone. Tomorrow is Labour Day.

Yesterday I watche d three of Walker’s kids all day I have the most fun with  Bess who loves to dance and makes up her own dance routines. We made jello when she first come over and later we ate it after it froze. I also make macaroni and chees. Rick brought home pizza which  all the kids ate. Joseph wondered around the house. He does not like watching sports like his brother. Tucker watched sports the whole afternoon with Grandpa.

I woke up about six am. I have been reading a kids book about Bible history. I am going to read about corn because the book uses the word corn instead of wheat.

Rick wants to go out to eat. I said okey. It is light outside.

At Walker’s house

I am going to pick up Bess in a few minutes. I picked her up at Ballet.

I went to the Miller Center this morning to hear what an Inspector General does. He works at the  Pentagon which I learned from him thousands of people.  I did not take any pictures. I am writing this later from memory. The conference room was packed with people. Many of the seats are reserved. I sat on the right side below the cameras in the very front. A member of the team questioned Mr. Wine and also  a writer from the Washington Post.

Both had tough jobs keeping abreast of what was happening in government and then recording it.

I think the Inspector general was fired by Trump.

Wednesday. trash Day will change

We changed the company that will pick up trash because the new company is today. I will take it to the top of the driveway later. I have been trying to have my haircut in Crozet at Saloon. R. The owner has not called back. I am in front of the TV with the sound off but the Pictures of. Inside politics. Harris and Walz will do an interview tonight at nine. Tim Walz lots of personality  like Trump, but  he is not thinking only of himself but the country.

They are on a bus tour through Georgia right now. I make a corn casserole and ate a left over cupcake for lunch. It is 12:o’clock.

Rick is out shopping for food and clothes at Joseph Banks.

I just got a call from Charles Barnes at the Democratic headquarters.

I am going to write in Storyworth.

Saturday morning

Last evening we went to see the Fordge, a religious movie with mostly black men. The story was a conversion story about a young 19 year old who does not want to go to college. He just wants to play basketball and video games. His mother tells him he has to grow up and play rent. His father was an alcoholic and abandoned the family.

My most recent knitting project was a baby hat which is on the mantle.

I felt inspired watching the Democratic convention so I am going to do A phone bank later today to try and get people to vote.

Rick is bringing down his laundry. I am wrong. He just came down ready for his daily trip to BHSC.

I wrote in my care journal earlier. Last night in the movie the older man gives Eliga his journal and he reads it. The story is pretty straight forward. The conflict is when the company More Fitness is having trouble getting an order finished on time. He and other employees work together and finish the order. A truck comes and the order is sent around the country ensuring the company’s success.

Met Louie yesterday

Louie was named Merriwether Lewis by the pet breeder. He had a brother named Clark. But Bess chose Louie who was more playful. We took him outside several times yesterday day but had trouble getting  him to walk very far. Bess was teaching  him she was the boss.

We also watched Descendants. This episode had more of a story than the first one. It was a real high school story. It should be a play.

This morning on the news I learned Phil Donahue had died. When we moved to Kingston Road I watched him. Every day. I was one of millions of woman who were fascinated with him. Probably because he asked them questions and gave them a voice separate from their husbands. This is the first time in my life I watched a lot of TV. Even though it was invented when I was a child.

Today I am going to meet Eliza at Mud house then we will go for a walk at Mint Springs. I need to go upstairs and get dressed. I want to bring cookies. I have a tablecloth and napkins ready. Rick is going to bring the food.

This whole plan collapsed. Catherine showed up with Eliza at the Mud House. We did go for a walk at Mont Speings but Eliza did not want to have lunch with Rick. I took her back to the Library and she walked hom, down the Main Street of Crozet. I waited for Rick.Rick drove home and ate at home.

I am writing this later. I forget some of it.

Violin concerts

Our grandsons are both at Violin camps this week. Friday night we watched Tucker preform over the internet and Sunday we went to,Walker’s house and watched Joseph preform on the big screen.

We really watched all the students in small groups. It is a camp for different instruments. I do not know how it is organized but Hallie does. She and Walker revolve their personal life around violin lessons. They have excellent results. It makes me want to pursue an instrument.

I can play some piano but have decided I can only play the melody and the trouble cleff. . I want to learn the base clef. Today I go to Walker’s to watch Bess I. Ed to learn the names of both camps.

We are home

Yesterday we took the train from Boston. We left the boat at 7:30. They served us breakfast which we ate at our favorite table in the back.  A driver picked us up and took us to the train station in the center of Boston. We learned you could pay a red cap to help you with your bags. We had him put our bags on his cart and drive us to the train which we boarded.we repeated this in Washington. This driver also had another young passenger which he took to a bus. We drove through the basement of the train station. We learned the young man loved his job.

He had worked for Target. The first train was an express that travels at a high speed and does not make many spots. There is a lot of water around Boston. We sat at a table with two other passengers beside us.

We shared a Turkey sandwich and drank water and ate chips.

On the second train I read Balducci. The title has Anguish in it.

The anguish of souls.it is about the late sixties right after the civil rights bill was passed.

I just get a call from our daughter Catherine Bradley. The first part she was normal the second part she became very angr and complained about me going into her house and causing her to smell smells and cause trama a  in her life.

She did mention she was going to see a councilor. The counselor is going to call her and me.

As usual I do not know how to handle this.

We are in Martha’s Vineyard

I am sitting on our poach with a slight breeze and the sunshineing on my face. It is more  than a slight breeze, but it is not a gale.  I see lots of large boats.  there is a beach close by but no one swimming.

this morning we got in a black van with other cruise people and heard stories about the island,  first settled by Indian. The Englishmen brought their boats here in 1628. I am not sure of the exact date. Rick is sound a sleep in our bed. We a

Came back to the ship for lunch.  I ate cod and still feel full.

This is a vacation land especially for blacks. They have been excluded in Many places in America until the Civil Rights movement but they were accepted here.

We went to Edgartown, the largest town which was very upscale. I went into the shops and bought a book for Cole to take to California, a ghost story. We learned all about the whaling industry. Whales were important because of whale oil. When Oil was discovered in Titusville Pa. Whale oil was not important. The oil in Pa. was drilled from the ground.

The captains who owned the ships that were sent all over the world were wealthy. They built  massive houses close to the water. We learned they were gone for three or four years and their wives ran the businesses and took care of the enormous homes.

Bess will come soon

I ate banana and granola for breakfast. My car is on my mind but I do not want to say anything to Rick. Later, I forget writing this. We thought we would have to buy a new. Ar but learned an animal had chewed my gas Lin which caused the car to stink. We had the car towed and even went looking for a new car last Sunday after church. In the end we had the car repaired and now I can drive it again. I am not sure I took Methotrxate last  Monday.

Bess came on Monday. We did origami but later went for a swim at BHSC.

Yesterday we met Jim Wicksat Septenary and talked about the Susquehanna River.

Saturday morning after seein It Ends with Us

I am still trying to figure out the movie which was a love story but did not make sense to me. I just read about the star Blake but I do not want to write about her but about me and my life.

After the movie we went to eat  dinner at Sal’s on the downtown mall and watched people walk by because we sat at the long table in the front that faces the mall. We saw several people we know and spoke to two, our representative and our former neighbor, Catherine Worton.

While Rick was paying I went into the used book store and looked around and was impressed. I decided I am going to given Bess a gift certificate for her birthday.

We watched a girl play her violin and then walked over to Christ Church garage and listened to more music but this was Appalachian music, the other was classical. We walked to Queen Charlotte , got in our car and came home. I was very tired but could not sleep. I got up took two of Rick’s sleeping pills later too a hot bath wit Dr. Teal’s Epson salt and then finally fell asleep.

Rick did not want me to go and do errands with him after he exercises. I need to pick up estrogen from Timberlakes. I also need to take my Jewlery to have restrung by my friend at the Farmer’s market.

Big Storm last night

News reports were dire and everyone was ready. Best part of all the water is the lake is full and water is spilling over the newly constructed dam. Pictures of the dam and our newly constructed dock have already been sent to Keith Barber the engineer who was n charge of all the construction.

Both he and Ricks were already checking things out when I woke up. I woke up about 7 when light was coming through the window. Rick was already up. When I came down stairs the front door was open. I got a clearer view out the  down family room window.Rick and ate ver were by the dam looking at it and discussing the event. We are home from an exhausting day. I should have never driven my Jeep to Finley’s. It smelled like gasoline. I got there but the. Eliza and I decided to call Rick.we went for a walk by the lake and sat on a picnic table and talked about Hamlet. When we got back to the house Rick came. The car would not start so we called AA. It took Al afternoon but finally the attendant came with a huge carrier and took the car to Finley’s

While we waited we ate lunch and played cards and took care of Ford the family feline who is now about four month’s old. Rick was very patient and helped Eliza. David took the lead and did all the shuffling and dealing.

We are sailing in to Boothbay

Yesterday we were in Portland again. We were bussed to Dave’s photo safari. We rode in a brand new boat looking for wildlife. We almost immediately found  two bald eagles in the shoreline trees. I  took a photo of one. Next we found courmorants and seals. Dave was a congenial fellow full of information about wild life he wanted to share.

He had a beautiful boat that was almost brand new. There were only five people in the boat. Rick and I sat in the back but the engine was noisy even though the views were beautiful. I eventually sat up front and spread my legs on the cushions and relaxed. Dave identified different wild life and I took pictures.

I am sitting in bed. I can see the shore line. There are lots of big houses. We are slowing down so I am going to step outside on our poach and take a picture.

Yesterday’s excursions

We left the ship at 7:30 after eating breakfast on the back porch. We ate an egg sandwich. We took a bus from Bucksport where the ship was docked to Bar Harbour. We boarded another bus for a tour of Arcadia. We had a delightful guide who told us he was a teacher of clowning. He had his own business and taught all over the country.

He started out as a math teacher. He was an older man. Everyone on the ship  is older and many with walkers or canes. I brought my cane with me. I used it yesterday. I did not have it in Portland where we did a lot of walking. Yesterday,  We saw two impressive sites in Acadia. Cadillac mountain and Thunder Cave. We did not see the view from Cadillac because of the fog. We took  pictures at Thunder Hole which I shall add later. We came back to Bar Harbour and found a restaurant to eat Lobster Roll which we shared with a bowel of Lobster soup, both were very tasty.

We went to the park only to learn the tour director Angela, had already left so we rushed to the boat where we boarded and began our second tour, a nature tour.

We learned all about bold eagles, seals, and cormorants. We lived through some rough waters on the open seas but were mostly in calmer waters between islands. We had another long bus ride back to the ship. I went to the happy hour and then we went to dinner together. And ate The

scallops, my favorite for dinner. They were tiny but delicious.

Right now I am in a lounge down from our room. Rick left for the talk about future excursions. I will go to the 11 o’clock talk entitled Three tall ships.

We had breakfast with Karen Chase the speaker who told us all about her business and the books she has written. Her second talk was about the Declaration of Independence.

Sunday, July 28, 2024

We are in Portland Maine

This is the home Of Longfellow. I just read about some of his poems. He wrote Paul Revere and Hiawatha and others. He taught at Harvard.

I crocheted a few stitches. The sun is shining through the door and the curtains are open.  I hear a siren and am not sure what it is. We go on two excursions today. In fact we see Longfellow house. I want to buy some stamps for my post cards. I don’t think I will take my cane. This afternoon we take a boat ride. I will go to a lecture about the Declaration of Independence at 4:30.

The speaker is a writer of history. She gave us one of her small books. Rick is already at the gym. When  he comes home I will put on my days clothes. I already decided I will wear a short skirt. The weather is warmer than we expected. I wore my short skirt several days. I also  did not wear any make up. I put it on and then have to take it off before I go to bed. I am tired of this routine.

Yesterday we took another bus tour of Boston on the way to the ship, the Constitution. Last night we went to a planning session in the Lounge. They served small cups of popcorn. Usually they serve bags. I guess people threw the bags away. I am still amazed at how enormous Boston is.  There are several sections and they all have business buildings and apartment buildings. I am having trouble connecting to FaceTime.
