Yesterday’s excursions

 We left the ship at 7:30 after eating breakfast on the back porch. We ate an egg sandwich. We took a bus from Bucksport where the ship was docked to Bar Harbour. We boarded another bus for a tour of Arcadia. We had a delightful guide who told us he was a teacher of clowning. He had his own business and taught all over the country. 

He started out as a math teacher. He was an older man. Everyone on the ship  is older and many with walkers or canes. I brought my cane with me. I used it yesterday. I did not have it in Portland where we did a lot of walking. Yesterday,  We saw two impressive sites in Acadia. Cadillac mountain and Thunder Cave. We did not see the view from Cadillac because of the fog. We took  pictures at Thunder Hole which I shall add later. We came back to Bar Harbour and found a restaurant to eat Lobster Roll which we shared with a bowel of Lobster soup, both were very tasty. 

We went to the park only to learn the tour director Angela,had already left so we rushed to the boat where we boarded and began our second tour, a nature tour.

We learned all about bold eagles, seals, and cormorants. We lived through some rough waters on the open seas but were mostly in calmer waters between islands. We had another long bus ride back to the ship. I went to the happy hour and then we went to dinner together. And ate The 

scallops, my favorite for dinner. They were tiny but delicious. 

Right now I am in a lounge down from our room. Rick left for the talk about future excursions. I will go to the 11 o’clock talk entitled Three tall ships.

We had breakfast with Karen Chase the speaker who told us all about her business and the books she has written. Her second talk was about the Declaration of Independence. 

We are in Portland Maine

 This is the home Of Longfellow. I just read about some of his poems. He wrote Paul Revere and Hiawatha and others. He taught at Harvard. 

I crocheted a few stitches. The sun is shining through the door and the curtains are open.  I hear a siren and am not sure what it is. We go on two excursions today. In fact we see Longfellow house. I want to buy some stamps for my post cards. I don’t think I will take my cane. This afternoon we take a boat ride. I will go to a lecture about the Declaration of Independence at 4:30. 

The speaker is a writer of history. She gave us one of her small books. Rick is already at the gym. When  he comes home I will put on my days clothes. I already decided I will wear a short skirt. The weather is warmer than we expected. I wore my short skirt several days. I also  did not wear any make up. I put it on and then have to take it off before I go to bed. I am tired of this routine.

Yesterday we took another bus tour of Boston on the way to the ship, the Constitution. Last night we went to a planning session in the Lounge. They served small cups of popcorn. Usually they serve bags. I guess people threw the bags away. I am still amazed at how enormous Boston is.  There are several sections and they all have business buildings and apartment buildings. I am having trouble connecting to FaceTime. 

Today Rick turns eighty, we board the Constitution

  We are at the Four Season’s in Boston.Rick is at the gym. I have the television on. Last night we watched the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics.  Right now a science show is on. I took a shower in our  lovely shower  I am not sure why everything was underlined. Now, I pressed the right button so the print was not underlined. Jane Burns already wrote Rick a Happy Birthday note. I just turned on the Olympic channel. There is a young man doing cartwheels, Lots of people are cheering. 

Today we go on a bus tour of Boston with the group from our American Cruise line Tour. I want to improve:my writing.I am good about writing specifics but not good about vocabulary and adding interesting words. The gymnast has on a USA shirt and red shorts. He has a shock of dark hair. He is waiting for his numbers. Now someone else is doing the jumps.whenever I watched the contest I wish I could make my body do them. Kids did do splits and cartwheels when I was young. The next young man fell so he is probably out of the competition. Brody Malone. Now, Fredrick Richard is competing. . They put their feet in a flour like substance. They put it on their hands.

I think they showed Jill Biden, the president’s wife. The last contestant took a slip at the end. Now they are packing up. Richard’s got 89.  He looks happy 

Now Great Britain is doing hand circles. 

We are on the Constitution . We sail of Boston passed many islands. I came back to the room to take a nap. 💤 

We changing hotels.

 Today we leave the  Solestra hotel in Cambridge and take an Architectural tour on the Charles River. We come back to pick up suitcases and go to the 4 Seasons. We are both surprised a the buildings in Cambridge and Boston.

I have been watching the news. The Obama’s endorse Pamela Harris. I have the Boston news on. Rick is still at the gym. Honda and the Today show are in Paris.  Rick is changing the channel. Yesterday we sa  Ostend  y bus and by boat. We saw everything. The guide was very entertaining. He made us laugh. And played entertaining tapes keeping us all aware of the safety laws about keeping hands inside. Rick is flipping the channels. 

The. Eva is about The Astronauts who are still at the space center. 

People want to know when they are coming home. 

I think I left my vitamins at home. I looked through the suitcase and cannot find them. 

We have a beautiful view. Last night we sat in a hotel space and ate a delicious lobster sandwich and watched the sunset. It was amazing but I did not have my camera so missed the pink. I went back out but the pink was gone.

Joe Biden told the country he will not run for reelection

 I took a nap in the afternoon.i read the prayers of the people in the morning. We stayed after church and talked to people at coffee hour then went to Barnes and Noble and looked at books about our trip.i could write about different episodes of my life but after eating leftover spaghetti I gook a nap.

I wish I would remember to use large print.

When I woke up from my nap I checked the news on the internet and learned about Biden’s decision. I went up to Rick’s office and he was napping. I told him. He said he would watch the news later.

I am going to visit Eliza this morning. I already ate donuts and yogurt with blueberries. I watched the news while I ate. Morning Joe tells the news. He has to act very natural. We saw him at Montecello with Jon Meachen the presidential historian who also gave an interview last night on the news. He had already talked to the president but would not reveal what they talked about.I am having trouble with inserting a picture.

Trump was convicted of 24 Counts

 Yesterday about four thirty we watched the jury decide Trump was found guilty of .24 crimes. He wasnn the Courtroom. I was waiting for Rick at Rackets drinking iced tea when he can in to the re s Taurean’s because he had watched the story develop on TV while he was residing on his stationary bike. We drove hom and have been watching TV non stop for 24 hours.  We did got to sleep. I had a terrible   

Time and sat in the tub with Epson Salt twice. Then finally sept in Eliza’s bed in Rick’s office. 

I am at Skyland

 I am sitting in the large guest room right beside the office. We left about 8. We drove by way of Madison and Sperryville. The countryside is beautiful mountains. We stopped at Yoder’s and I bought a sandwich which I will eat soon for lunch. We had rain on the way here. We had a call from Walker who,talked to Rick about Charles Fund. He wanted a code from me. It never came through.

I am looking at trees and rocks.

Last night we watched Biden give a news conference at 75th Anniversary of NATO.  Many people want his to give up his bid for presidency’s.I am in agreement.

Rick is at a meeting of the Park Trust. He will be finished at 4 pm.

I brought a book to read and also art supplies but have done neither yet. I have investigated our family tree. I am going to do more of this after lunch before I start my book 

We are in Cressan Pa

 We left home at about nine and drove the same route we drove for many years to Harrisburg. But left 81 at Hancock Maryland. We followed the map to. Find our way to Johnstown and almost Altoona. 

We had a picnic lunch at a Pa..rest stop and searched the brochures and found some and learned about the area especially Cresson.

We took one back road and went to BlueKnob state Park. 

When we go to Cresson we located Bradley Appliance Store almost immediately. Ken Bradley was outside loading a truck.  He was very friendly. He took up took shady place and started talking and and showed us a picture of the Bradley family with his great grandfather Ira and my. Father Homer.He was very friendly. He led us to the B and B we are staying in. The owners gave us a tour of the house and showed us all the food. 

Tonight we ate at Vito’s. And then ate an Ice cream cone.  Only one train went by when were  eating spaghetti. I read some days 15 trains go through the town.

I am going to go to sleep.
