Relaxing after a long family,vacation

 We had an exceptional vacation at Rockywald Deephaven with Walker and Tucker’s family.

We, well the kids did all the activities like swim the shore line swim, capture the flag, the tennis and paddle ball tournaments, the run, the square dance, the talent show, (Bess danced and did gymnastics)

Joseph told me he ran up “rattlesnake”  twice) liz and Tucker walked to five fingers. 

We had a golf cart so Rick drove it with me in tow everywhere. 

I took it one morning and drove to the store and bought lots of gifts. 

Before our week at RDC rick and I drove to the White Mountains. We stayed several days at the White Mountain Inn. It is a magnificent resort. I swam in the pool. We ate on the patio alone but had breakfast in the fancy dinning room. 

Now I am sitting on the sofa. I have been looking at pictures of our trip because I want to make a Shutterfly book. I read some of our previous blogs so I have more of an Idea what to do. I would like to post pictures.

Now we are at the In at Wentworth

 I am sitting by a fire. There is an old fashioned picture above the mantle. I just wrote and sent pictures by email. I drew pictures of leaves. I copied them from a tree book the was left in the room. It is not raining but it has rained almost continually since we started on this excursion. It would be difficult to live in the White mountains. The rain is every day and the rocks are everywhere. 

Rick is out running. He said he would bring back coffee. This afternoon we arrive it RDC.  I have lots of gifts in the car. I am glad I have a family. Rick is very considerate even though he gets angry at times.

My grandchildren are always fun and entertaining. 

The Inn at Thorne Hill

 Ready for Bed

We are at the Inn-at THORN Hill. We ate a delicious dinner and sat and talked about the last few days and politics. I have my robe on and am sitting on an old fashioned sofa while Rick catches up on the news. It rained a good part of the day as. We drove from the  resort at the base of Mount Washington.  Yesterday we took the cog railway to the top of the Mountain. rick bought Jersey Mike sandwiches for lunch. We looked at the gift shop waited for the train and the;returned to the resort. We rented a black car so traveling through the mountains is quite Luxurious.

We are sewing lots of fog which hides the mountains. The sky is grey and gloomy looking. 

We have a three room suite here which makes our stay quite comfortable. 

The dinner was free as is the breakfast tomorrow. I sat in the jacuzzi when we first arrived. I am glad I am writing this so I can keep track of our activities. Tomorrow I will take. Ore pictures. 

Monday Morning

 I had trouble sleeping. I do not want to turn on the TV. I keep thinking about making socks. I found a weather book in the book case in Tucker’s old room. I am going to pay more attention to the weather.

Rick is outside cleaning up and weed eating

He is going to take Walker to the doctor soon.

My hands are stiff. I am trying to exercise them.

I woke up very early and now feel tired.

Tucker Gratuates from Henley

 Last night we attended Henry Middle school graduation and watched R. Tucker receive his diploma. Now he will move on to WAHS to spend four more years of school. Rick and I sat in the back with handicapped people. Today, right. Ow we attend an award ceremony for Eliza. It is wet outside. I will take my raincoat. 

As usual, I had trouble sleeping and took several hot baths during the night. 

On my Way to Senior lunch

 I just watched a video about growing old.

It is Importan to drink water each morning when you wake up.other suggestions were to get outside and look at the sun, write In your  journal. 

There was nothing about prayer. 

There were instructions about movement.

Roll your shoulders, do squats, move your feet in a circle.

I think this was a good video. I just decided I should write something before I draw. ✍️ 

Award Ceremony at Western

 Yesterday morning we attended an award ceremony at WAHS. Joseph and Eliza both received honor awards. Walker was there as a teacher. The room was  filled with students. Jen Sublette was there. We saw her as she left. She did make an announcement. 

When I woke up I began reading the Big Relief., a book by Dave Zahl who is on the staff at Christ Church. I am still reading the first chapter. The big relief is Grace.

I ate left over lasagna for lunch. I hear Rick using the weed eater out side. He mowed the grass. Our dishwasher is broken so we are trying to eat simply and wash the dishes in the downstairs bathroom.

I am knitting a white baby hat.i have been sitting on the sofa all morning because my knee hurts. I had a shot but it is not working. I called Dr. Haugh’s office. His assistant said I need to put ice on it and rest. I have started to drink water with lime and honey. I want to finish this hat soon so I am going to finish typing and begin knitting again.💜😎

I am disappointed I cannot add photographs. I am experimenting .now I am going to use the T. I think it works. I will keep typing. 

Again I go to the doctor

 I did not sleep well. 😴 I have been trying to organize my doctors appointment s for the last hour. I am sitting on the orange chair in the family room. I ate cheese  and cherries for breakfast as I sat here. I read dr. Katzenstein’s summary and some articles in WP. One was entitled the art of Dying. I always look at the trees outside the window. I still feel hungry. I am going to go to Jabba with Rick and learn about Medicare. Later I will do a follow up on breast cancer operation. 

I am trying to write more and better. 

Walker just sent a request for his birthday. I will talk to Rick about it. 

Lunch at BHSC

We had Brunch with Walker and family to Celebrate Patsy Smith’s 90 th Birthday. I bought her a card at Hallmarks at Stonefield. I also took one of our family pictures off the wall and gave it to her. It was a picture we took of the family when Joseph graduated. The buffet was splendid. Lots of tasty food and I think everybody ate too much. We ate Solomon, salad and deserts. I ate cake and granola with yogurt. I sat beside Walker. He was a bit distracted. 

Rick is exercising right now but I wanted to work on this blog before I get too busy. 

When I came home a took a short nap and the. Worked on my knitting. I am knitting a baby blanket for Amanda’s baby. Sam gave the sermon this morning. I listened but did not hear. I will ask Rick what he sai. Right after church we went to Jersey Mike’s and. the to the new hardware store in town. I just read about setting goals. Write it down,  are it happen. 

Pilling things together

Tonight we meet David Quinn for dinner. I hope Eliza comes too. David is home from Virginia Tech. He is in his first year studying Engineering. He seems content but we will learn tonight.

Eliza is now on the rowing team. She is doing well at Western. 

Last night Rick and I went to Vavaci for dinner. I brought home left over spaghetti. We talked to the owner. I think he now recognizes when we come in. It is our “go to” restaurant. I am going to make an album for Robert Tucker. His name sake , his other grandfather died. Patsy will come today and we will have brunch tomorrow with Walker’s family and Patsy. She turns ninety so we bought her a card. I bought new shoes and there was a Hallmark store close by. 

Reading the Bible

I am following Tim Kane’s sugesstion and reading, Exodus ,which has forty books. I just read chapter 20  which is the part where God gives the Ten Commandments to Moses. I have not read the complete text before and have lots of questions. I want to investigate more mostly through asking AI since now has become the best way to find knowledge. 

I am also trying to pay more attention to events by putting them on the calendar and looking at my calendar more. Jim McWilliams is outside more. Rick went outside to talk to him. He just came in. I am trying to learn more about this iPad and how to use it. Rick just came in and put on his belt. He said Jim McWilliams is spreading mulch. 

 I am sitting on the orange chair in the kitchen. I am finishing my baby blanket which will be for Amanda’s baby. This is her second child. While we were on our river Ruskin Florida we met an old. College friend of Rick’s Jim.

Catching up on old newspapers

 I have a stack of old newspapers I need to read. This morning I read some but still have others to look at. 

I pursue the papers and decide rich articles I want to read. Sometimes I read the advice column but not often. I wonder what happened to Anne Landers? 

I sit on the sofa and can read, write or watch television. This room is filled with all my creations. I promised myself I will do one painting today. I also want to k it. 

What did I learn on my recent travels? Climate changes everything. In Florida people wear sandals, shorts and bathing suits. In Colorado they wear, boots, sweaters and long pants. In California it depends whether you are north or south. 

I do not want to write about my son Tucker until I learn more. 

What else did I learn: old people like to be with other old people. I liked making the pots we created. They are being glazed right now. The people in Florida are all involved in tourism. 

M River cruise

 We traveled along the coast of Mississippi River and Florida. We had exciting excursions. 

I made pottery which will be sent home.

I sailed with Rick on a schooner.

We visited the home of the DAR in Mobile. We took a bus tour around Pensacola. We went to several lectures by William Wiemoth. I am reading one of his books right now.

We are in the Charlotte Airport. 

At the BHSC

 Right now I am sitting in the Market Restaurant drinking a chai drink a looking at the large black girl behind the counter. She told me her name but I forget. Two men at the other table are talking in loud voices. One looks foreign. The Olympics are over. It was fun watching all the young spectacular athletes. 

Last evening we watched a famous movie, Miracle on Ice. It is about a high school group from Minnesota who beat the professional Russians in the next to last round. This is a true story and it was made into a movie in 2004. I read about it on Wikipedia. Wikipedia is on the internet and has replaced Encyclopedia. I wonder if Encyclopedia is still published.

Reading about Cruise

 Our next cruise starts March 1, I have been reading what we will do. Most of the activities center around Beluxie, Mississippi. We will see Jefferson Davis House and a museum with lots of Georgia O’keefe.

I bought a watercolor sketch book to get started.

Last night we went to Shenandoah park trust meeting at the hotel in down Town Cville. The party was on the seventh floor of the hotel. The restaurant and bar had beautiful views of Main Street Cville. We ate smash burgers and had a talk and movie about the park. Rick said it cost three hundred dollars to attend. It was a fund raiser. There were at least 200 people there. He talked to Emily Childs. I talked to the ranger who gave the talk. She talked in her presentation lots about the back country and what anyone should bring. She was part of the rescue team.

 Anna who we know from many events introduced everyone. I learned a lot and brought home a brochure. I want to tell Eliza and Catherine about the programs they have for youth. 

I will continue this latter. I want to do my crocheting. I am crochet a hat. It is about half way done.

The news is still about Savannah Guthrie and also the ICE-officers  wearing masks and beating up people,

I read about Georgie O Keene which made me want to paint. She went to Art school and also taught art school 

Center one

 I am sitting in my Jeep parked in a handicapped parking space in front of Center1. Albemarle County schools have a rented space here. I brought Eliza and two friends here for a meeting about the Environment for a class she is taking. We met at Grit. Eliza and I bought a chair cold latte. The business here is Pratt Whitney. I looked it up on the Internet. They build airplane engines all over the country. I need to go to the bathroom. The girl in the car beside me is eating her boxed lunch.Another woman is checking her phone. Another man is just wondering around. I want to learn more about chat Bo’s and AI.

I go to see Dr. Nanda soon

 I have an appointment at 3pm. I am reading a book at church I found about religion. All religions. Justin just called and I am to pick up a replacement hearing aid at Costco at 11:30 on Thursday. 

On Valentine Day, we take Eliza to dinner at restoration in Crozet. It is part of the Country Club. I found a magazine upstairs in Rick’s office called Breathe, Well Being. I want it to be part of my life. A young girl is writing in her journal, doing crossed legged yoga and drinking tea. She is surrounded by flowers and  bird. We have a dead goose by our dock. A large black bird has been eating it. 

I am crocheting something round. It will probably be a hat. I do not know how to crochet a granny square but that is one of my goals to learn. 

We had a wonderful Sunday. After church we went to a concert at the Senior Center and then to see the Superbowel at Walker’s house. This next few weeks we will watch the olympics.

Met Eliza for morning tea

 The best part of today was having tea, and steamed milk with Eliza. We picked her up at home. Tomorrow she goes to Washington with one of her after school groups and learns about the U tied Nations. I gave her $350 to give to the teacher to pay for the event and also extra money for snacks.

We sat at a new coffee shop in Crozet, Praha. The sign out front says Bohemian.  Rick was with us. He decided at the last minute to come. We got to talk with her and learn about some of her classes and the school trip. We took her to school, Western, which started late. We came home and I rested. I ate leftover chicken wings and thighs for lunch. Right now I am on the sofa. I went to BHSC with Rick to exercise. I do the machines and he rides a bike. The employees know my name and always a say hello which makes me feel. Good. 😌 I will watch the TV in a bit. Rick is reading the newspaper in his study. 

I have hot chocolate sitting in front of me but it is cold since it has been there awhile.

Winter storm is comming

 The Weatherman predicts snow and ice this weekend. Rick is going to buy extra food today. I have to pick up Bess at 2:30 today at her house the. Bring her here then go to Costco for  my hearing aid fitting. I am on the sofa in our family room. The heater is turned on but it is still cold. 

I am going to return my yarn. I am going to buy new yarn at the store on the  mall.  I am going to buy a prepare kit. Our president is in Davos. He wants to acquire Greenland. The people in Minneapolis are still protesting because I C E troops are there..  

K Louie to Day Care

 Right now we are at Chop picking up a salad for tonight. Walker and kids go to Memphis tomorrow to visit Bob for the last time. He is. At home but in very bad shape. He has been old and sick for a long time now.

We had breakfast at Crepes in Crozet. We picked up Louie after that. We went to Harris Teeter across the street. I spent $64. I bought cheese oranges, strawberries, watermelon. 

I am not sure what Rick bought. 

I go to the hearing doctor 

Arthritis's doctor

 This morning I went to the Arthritis doctor on Pantops. Building 650. 

This is a new doctor. Dr. Z. He is very short but thorough. He said I should sleep more. Rick is not yet home from exercising. I am in his back office. I was trying to nap then I was cleaning out the book case. 

Our neighbor John Dorning’s no longer lives in his house.I am looking at the house right now. Walker wants me to come to his house Wednesday. I must check. My calendar.

I made an appointment to check my car on Monday. I will have it inspected.

She want to Princeton. She was one of only a few blacks. I am at the part when she decides to go to Law school. Homer wanted to read the law. That is what my brother told me. I need to all him and wish him a Happy New Year. He gave me$200  for Christmas.

Yesterday I went to the ba k and talked to Maury Early. Someone tried to forge a check. Catherine was downtown and came to the bank. We walked down the   Mall to the yarn store. We did not buy anything.I want to finish the Projects I am working on.
